Dick Gimble
Dick was born into the musical family of Barbara and Johnny Gimble while his Dad was on the road with Bob Wills. He grew up with the beat of swing and the sound of the sweetest fiddle in country music.
Getting excited about music during his school years in Waco, Dick began playing bass fiddle with Johnny and rock 'n roll guitar with his buddies. The college years took him to Austin to study Jazz at the University.
Next there were a few years in Nashville doing some session work and teaching music part time. The seventies were spent playing with several Austin bands including his own, until an offer came to move back to Waco and teach the music he loves at McLennan Community College. He's been living in central Texas with his wife and three children since 1981 sharing his knowledge of bass and guitar in the areas of country, rock and jazz in MCC's Commercial Music Program.Through the years Dick has been fortunate to record and perform on stage with many heroes of country music first, of course, is his Dad, along with Bob Wills, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, several Austin City Limits segments backing up Charlie Pride, Tom T. Hall and Merle Travis. Dick and friends have made three musical tours of Eastern Europe He and his friends continue to play for lots of folks in a variety of occasions in a variety of musical styles.It's been fun!
